Sara Brandt
Senior Paralegal
Bio
Sara Brandt is a Senior Paralegal at Burrows Law Group with more than 15 years of experience in family law. As attorney Adam Burrows’ primary paralegal, Sara works closely with clients from the beginning of their case through resolution while also stepping in to assist the rest of the Burrows Law Group team whenever needed.
Sara’s experience covers virtually every area of Texas family law, including divorce, child custody, modifications, enforcement matters, discovery, property division, financial analysis and tracing, protective orders, mediation, hearings, and trial preparation. She especially enjoys complex custody cases and matters involving complicated possession and access schedules—the cases where there are a lot of moving pieces and finding the right solution can make an enormous difference in a family’s everyday life.
Sara began her legal career working in both criminal defense and family law. She was drawn to family law because she wanted a career where she could genuinely make a difference in people’s lives. More than 15 years later, that remains one of the things she loves most about what she does.
Throughout her career, Sara has held both senior paralegal and law office management positions, including serving as an Office Manager and Senior Paralegal. Those roles gave her extensive experience not only managing complex cases but also overseeing the day-to-day operations of a legal team. She is comfortable jumping into a complicated case, sorting through the details, identifying what needs attention, and helping create a clear path forward.
Clients quickly learn that Sara is a straight shooter. She believes that one of the most important things she can give a client is honest, clear communication—even when the situation is complicated or the answer isn’t necessarily the one they hoped to hear. She has a particular ability to take complicated legal issues and explain them in a way that makes sense outside of a courtroom or law office.
That approach is especially valuable in high-conflict cases. Sara understands how overwhelming family litigation can become when emotions are high and decisions involving children, finances, homes, and futures are all happening at once. She works hard to help clients separate the legal issues from the noise, understand what comes next, and feel prepared rather than lost in the process.
Sara attended Dallas Baptist University, where she studied psychology. Her interest in people and what drives them has carried throughout both her professional and personal life. She is a member of the Tarrant County Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, and the Denton County Paralegal Association.
Her passion for helping families also extends far beyond the office. For approximately 10 years, Sara has volunteered in outreach serving pregnant teenagers and young mothers. She has taught parenting classes, mentored teens, connected them with resources, and helped with the practical things that can make becoming independent feel possible—from getting a driver’s license or Social Security card to simply figuring out where to turn when they need help. It is work that has remained especially close to her heart.
Outside the office, Sara’s favorite role is being part of her own big family. She and her husband have been married for 18 years and have five children ranging in age from 15 to 23. They are proud grandparents to a two-year-old granddaughter and are excitedly awaiting another grandchild. They are also a house divided in the best possible way: one of their children is a Texas A&M graduate, while another graduated from the University of Arkansas and is currently attending graduate school there, making Sara and her husband very proud Aggie and Razorback parents.
When she has free time, Sara loves thrifting, cooking, traveling, and going to concerts. She loves finding a great bargain almost as much as she loves finding the one important detail buried in a stack of discovery.
For Sara, family law has never been just about documents, deadlines, and courtrooms. There is a real person and a real family behind every case, often going through one of the hardest seasons of their lives. She takes pride in being someone clients can trust to tell them the truth, explain what is happening, help them feel prepared, and remind them that even the most complicated case can be handled one step at a time.
